The tack welding process generates a series of weld points, spaced more or less evenly along the perimeter of the pieces to be joined, without creating a continuous weld. Sheet metal tack welding is preferred over full welding when the joined parts are subjected to low mechanical stresses or when a hermetic joint is not required.
